（株）フジテレビジョン報道記者・ディレクターを経て、31歳で全国最年少市長として神奈川県逗子市長に就任（3期）。衆議院議員（1期）などを歴任。
After working as a news reporter and director for Fuji Television Network, he became the youngest mayor in Japan at the age of 31, serving three terms as mayor of Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture. He also served as a member of the House of Representatives .

48歳で藝大に入学し映画製作を習得する。監督兼プロデューサーとして製作した作品、The Calling -神様から与えられたお仕事‐が第36回ハワイ国際映画祭に入選、ベストドキュメンタリー観客賞にノミネート。

2019年より石垣島湘南国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭実行委員長。
At the age of 48, he entered the University of the Arts to learn filmmaking. The Calling - A Job Given to Me by God, a film he made as a director and producer, was selected for the 36th Hawaii International Film Festival and nominated for the Best Documentary Audience Award.

From 2019, he will be the chairman of the Ishigaki Shonan International Documentary Film Festival Executive Committee.
